Big Storm Big Trip

Two big things going on for us this week, one of which I’m sure will affect you as well. First off, there’s a big storm coming this weekend. It look like it’s going to leave quite a mess. In true “farmers try our best” fashion, the Sunday Anne Arundel Farmers Market will be moving to Saturday (9-noon) this week. There will be NO Sunday market this week. All Sunday pre-orders will be there Saturday. You can also still order for Saturday until noon tomorrow (Friday). If you need to make other arrangements to pick up, just reach out. Now let’s look into why there’s a giant storm coming…..

Big Week of Not Much at All

Hi folks. We had a quite uneventful week here. The farm crew kept things moving and got started on a few projects. The Calvert/PG delivery route grew a little bit and we’re happy that option is picking up some new customers. Family time involved an eye doctor visit and some cavities getting filled. Like I said, not a lot to report on the farm front. Things I reminded myself of this week. Our pork chops are awesome, T-bone steaks are something special and our bacon can’t be beat. Hope you had a good week too.

Meet the Team

Welp, we’re moving ahead into another year. To be honest, the farm doesn’t have any major resolutions. We’re going to keep our rotational grazing going and continue our daily move poultry like we do. We’ll continue to source clean non-gmo feed from St. Mary’s county, and continue to use only small family run butcher shops. The plan is to be at all the same markets and to drive the same delivery routes. We do plan to raise a little more chicken and egg layers than last year, and hope to stay a bit more stocked in grass-fed beef. But, otherwise, we’re going to keep on going. If it aint broke….you get the gist.

Happy New Year!

Im pretty sure this is the last week of non-animal related photos in the email. My farm to do list has waited patiently for the holidays to pass, and now we’re there. Today we’re loading up the big flock of sheep and bringing them back to the main farm for the rest of winter. Next week the big flock of layers will be back too. It’s nice to have the animals close for winter.

Quick Market Update

Markets All Around Well the snow has come and gone for now. It looked pretty, messed up farm work for a few days and has gone away…thankfully. The kids like it and I’m happy for that. I spent 30 some years in Florida and the death-heat summers were a seasonal event themselves. I’m happy to have four seasons.

Seasons Change

It was nice to have a slower week here on the farm. We’re full throttle for the majority of the year, and turkey time really maxes all of us out. So taking a recovery week or two is a much needed change of pace. We’ve got plenty of projects to complete before March and a lot of picking up the pieces left behind during a busy growing season. But it feels good to be on the other end of the 2025 season.

Farm Updates January 2024

Happy New Year!I’m hoping 2024 is off to a good start for you. I’m feeling optimistic at this point, not too overwhelmed and in general at a “let’s get things done” moment. This is not a resolution on my part, I’m not a resolution sort of person, but rather simply a happy-ish place I have found myself at as we start another year around the sun. I’ve been fortunate in the last few weeks to: build a mud kitchen, install a ninja line and go hiking with my family…and farm stuff :)Hey Folks. So the Saturday markets are done until April. Ann and Christian have begun hibernating and fixing up their first house together, and the wonderful ground of the Sevenna Park Farmer’s Market has returned to a parking lot…until April when it all starts again…thankfully. For now.Every Sunday 9-noon we will be at the Anne Arundel County Farmer’s Market!!! And by “we” I mean ME. I’m happy to go get chilly at this market through the winter. It’s fun. I could insert something clever here about seeing your warm smiles but I think I’ll steer clear of such blatant marketing charm…wink. I’m truly looking forward to it.Also this Sunday is Honey’s Harvest Farm Market. 11-3pm in Lothian. Great eats, skilled crafts, drinks and music. It’s a real event. Vicki will be there with all the goods.Next Wednesday Jan. 10th is Home Delivery! Tuesday at noon is the deadline to order. You can order Here.33(42.3%) This is going to be an every two week thing now. Last round was great. We’re happy to provide this service option and will be making an effort to expand its reach over the next few months. A new and improved online store is in the works and we have some spiffy looking brochures getting made up too. Stay tuned! We’ll be asking for your help.As always, Thank you for your support! I feel like I can’t say that enough. Our farm does not work without you. Best wishes in this new year!Morris Hill Farm: David, Vicki, Gradin and Maggie
