Holiday Turkey Brine

A can't miss brine for your holiday meals.

Ingredients

  • (15-20lbs) 1 Morris Hill Farms Turkey
  • (1 Gallon) Apple Cider
  • (1 Gallon) Water
  • (1 1/3 Cups) Kosher Salt
  • (1 1/3 Cup) Brown Sugar
  • (3 halved and juiced) Fresh Oranges
  • (2 halved and juiced) Fresh Lemons
  • (10) Garlic Cloves
  • (3 TBSP) Whole Black Peppercorns
  • (5) Bay Leaves
  • (1/2 Bunch) Fresh Thyme
  • (1/2 Bunch) Fresh Rosemary

Directions

- In a large pot combine 1/2 Gallon of the Apple Cider with the salt, and brown sugar.  Bring to a boil, stirring occasionally, and reduce to a simmer for approximately 10 minutes or until the salt and brown sugar are completely. dissolved. Remove from heat and cool for 30 minutes. Add garlic, peppercorns, Thyme, Rosemary, Bay Leaves, and the Lemon and Orange halves. Cool completely. This is your brine base.

- Transfer your cooled brine base to your brining container and add the remaining apple cider, your water and the orange and lemon juice. Stir well.

- Slowly submerge your Turkey into your brining container. Cover and refrigerate and allow it to brine for approximately 1 hour per pound.
