Big Storm Big Trip

So what’s my theory regarding the timing of this massive snow fall and entire week below freezing? Well, I think it has to be due to the fact that this farming family is diving south Saturday morning to visit Florida, my mom, a poultry conference, and Legoland! Me and the weatherman seem to bicker quite a bit, and Im pretty sure he’s throwing this low blow trying to mess up our family trip. BUT we’ve got a good crew (view previous emails) AND I am going to trust them to keep everything together here. I might have to repeat that last phrase quietly Im my head with some square breathing, but I know that they will do the best they can given the challenges ahead. So let’s recap…

  • Anne Arundel County Farmers Market SATURDAY 9-noon.
  • No Sunday Markets.
  • Our Farm Store is open Saturday 10-2pm.
  • Home Delivery for Calvert/PG is Wednesday 1/28.

That’s it for now. It’s time to finish prepping the farm for the storm. Extra hay, water heaters, firewood and hand warmers. Wish us luck. I hope the storm doesn’t cause too many problems for you, or us, or anyone really. Until next week, thank you for your support. Stay warm.

Big Week of Not Much at All

Hi folks. We had a quite uneventful week here. The farm crew kept things moving and got started on a few projects. The Calvert/PG delivery route grew a little bit and we’re happy that option is picking up some new customers. Family time involved an eye doctor visit and some cavities getting filled. Like I said, not a lot to report on the farm front. Things I reminded myself of this week. Our pork chops are awesome, T-bone steaks are something special and our bacon can’t be beat. Hope you had a good week too.

Meet the Team

Welp, we’re moving ahead into another year. To be honest, the farm doesn’t have any major resolutions. We’re going to keep our rotational grazing going and continue our daily move poultry like we do. We’ll continue to source clean non-gmo feed from St. Mary’s county, and continue to use only small family run butcher shops. The plan is to be at all the same markets and to drive the same delivery routes. We do plan to raise a little more chicken and egg layers than last year, and hope to stay a bit more stocked in grass-fed beef. But, otherwise, we’re going to keep on going. If it aint broke….you get the gist.

Happy New Year!

Im pretty sure this is the last week of non-animal related photos in the email. My farm to do list has waited patiently for the holidays to pass, and now we’re there. Today we’re loading up the big flock of sheep and bringing them back to the main farm for the rest of winter. Next week the big flock of layers will be back too. It’s nice to have the animals close for winter.
